	Does your department know what the library has to offer? Because of the constantly changing fields of librarianship and technology, it is easy not to know all the material the library currently has for your department. We are always updating information and adding new resources to help you and your students. Contact the library at your campus to schedule a information session with your department!

Before you assign that first paper, arm your students with the skills they will need to succeed not only in your class but during their time at Jeff State. Consider a library instruction class to introduce your students to the library and to increase their information literacy.

	Library of Congress The Library of Congress is the nation's oldest federal cultural institution and serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world, with millions of books, recordings, photographs, maps and manuscripts in its collections.
	American Library Association The object of the American Library Association shall be to promote library service and librarianship. To provide leadership for the development, promotion and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all.
	Library Bill of Rights The American Library Association affirms that all libraries are forums for information and ideas, and that the following basic policies should guide their services.
